There are many external factors which can cause premature skin ageing. The sun is the biggest culprit, and is the number one cause responsible for up to 90% of skin damage.
The sun breaks down collagen and elastin ﬁbres and damages the skin’s DNA. This causes the cells to malfunction which increase the signs of photo-ageing; this can eventually lead to skin diseases such as skin cancer. Research has shown that signiﬁcant amounts of sun damage already appear on the skin by as young as 18 years of age. Other skin ageing causes are environmental toxins, climate temperature, gravity, repetitive facial movements and lifestyle.
Here's how to protect your skin from external factors and premature skin aging:-
Sun protection: It's important to avoid the sun as much as possible. If you enjoy sunbathing, be sure to wear a high sun protecting factor (SPF) 30 +.
Anti-aging skincare: Incorporate an intensive, anti-ageing skincare regimen which includes the following ingredients:-
