The importance of our skin

Our skin is probably one of the most important organs we have. It is the largest organ and the only one that is visible. An average adult has 21 square feet of skin.

Our skin is there to protect us against the environment. It helps our immune system and regulates our temperature. Although our skin is extremely important, the majority of us still continue to ply it with daily chemicals, such as perfumes, detergents, creams and UV rays.

At a glance the condition of our skin can reveal our age, our emotional state and how healthy we are. It is no wonder that we have become obsessed with trying to look younger and more youthful. There is now more of a demand for better skincare products and age-defying creams.

However, a lot of manufacturers have taken it to the extreme and are now making skincare products that contain snake venom, snail slime and even placenta extracts.

Recent surveys show that younger woman and men are taking their skincare regime more seriously than ever before and have spent their hard earned money on natural skincare products and anti wrinkle creams, rather than throwing money away on a night out.
