How to read your face

For years Chinese face readers look at spots, puffiness, dryness, discolouration and fine lines on the face to help diagnose potential disorders. It might not be the type of skincare routine that you have in place, but if you are prone to cracked lips or spots then the problem may be due to your diet or health.

So when you carry out your everyday skincare regime, look for those tell tale signs. If you are prone to breakouts of spots on your forehead, this may indicate congestion of your intestines. Try to include more fibre in your in your diet, such as vegetable, wholemeal bread and fruit. Try to avoid over indulgence of alcohol and anything that may cause you unnecessary stress.

If you have a tendency to get dark circles and puffiness under your eyes then this could be a sign that you are working too hard and not getting enough sleep. This can also put your kidneys under pressure, so reduce your intake of coffee, alcohol and rich salty foods. Increase the amount of sleep that you are getting a take a well earned break once and while. Also invest in an age defying cream, designed to reduce puffiness under the eyes.

Deep creases between your eyes could be a sign that you are working your liver too hard. Eat less fatty and salty food and eat more fruit and vegetables. Try and relax with calming exercises, such as yoga and meditation.
