Does Drinking Water Help My Skin Stay Young?
Almost every dermatologist will tell you that winter will help your skin’s health and re-hydrate the skin. Hydrated skin will keep your skin looking younger.
Like any other part of your body, the skin is made of cells, all of which are interconnected, so drinking water will work on your outside skin as well as your insides. Without water, we are all aware that our organs will not function correctly, and skin is one of our biggest organs.
If you are de-hydrated, then it will show in your skin – it will be dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin is also more prone to wrinkles. Water helps to retain skin moisture, as does most skin care products, and helps deliver nutrients to the skin.
It is not just enough to drink enough water, but you have to be able to keep the water there, so drinking eight glasses of water all at once will not be sufficient as it will go straight through you and you will lack water at other times of the day, so drink water regularly throughout the day.
Other ways to keep water in your skin are to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, drink fruit juice or milk for extra water, take flaxseed or evening primrose oil or glucosamine supplements, which helps to hold the moisture in the skin cells and of course to use good skin care products, including a daily moisturiser.
