Can chocolate help reduce the signs of ageing?
Many times we have been told to avoid bad food and drink, such as coffee, alcohol and chocolate. However, recent studies have actually found that a little bit of what you fancy can help combat and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plus they have lots of health benefits.
This does not mean to start eating loads of chocolate and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, as everything good comes in moderation.
Scientists have recently found that dark chocolate contains catechins, this is a chemical that is believed to help protect against cancer and heart disease. It also contains antioxidants that are believed to help protect against the inevitable signs of ageing. It has even been suggested that dark chocolate may also help lower high blood pressure.
However, with every good thing, there comes the bad; dark chocolate still contains sugar and fat, which is why it should only be eaten in moderation. If you are a chocolate lover, but prefer milk or white chocolate, then this does not work. Manufacturers who make dark chocolate sometime remove the good stuff, so when purchasing any dark chocolate, you need to look for one that has a high cocoa level, such as 70%.
So if you want to try this new found dark chocolate craze to tackle premature ageing, then only eat 1 to 3 squares per day and don't forget to use a good anti ageing cream and do not neglect your daily skincare regime.
