Here are 9 top tips to help prevent breakouts
1. Skin cleansing
It is important to wash your face in the morning and evening to remove impurities, dead skin cells and bacteria. Do not over wash your skin as this may make the problem worse. Choose a face wash containing salycilic acid, glycolic acid or lactic acid to destroy bacteria and help unblock the pores.
2. Avoid harsh products
Avoid harsh exfoliating scrubs.
3. Drink water
Drinking water not only helps keep your skin and body hydrated, but it also helps eliminate toxins.
4. Moisturise
Even though your skin may feel oily, it’s still important to moisturise at least once per day. The skin needs proper hydration to function properly.
5. Make-up
When looking for a make-up, choose one that is oil free, light and labelled Noncomedogenic.
Noncomedogenic is a term applied to products that don’t clog pores.
6. Don’t touch
Don’t touch, pick or squeeze spots as this will help spread the bacteria and may lead to unwanted infection.
7. Reduce stress
Reducing your stress levels can help to reduce breakouts. Studies have shown that emotional stress can cause existing flare ups to worsen.
8. Eat healthy
Eat a healthy balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.
9. Avoid alcohol
Alcohol is toxic to the body. It causes inflammation which can lead to breakouts.
